    Hi Shane,

The first thing that popped out at me from your post is that your male has separation anxiety.  That’s a tough thing to deal with.  And it’s hereditary.  Breeding a dog with separation anxiety will produce pups with separation anxiety.  I’ve had some fantastic dogs in my life that had just one problem that was so difficult to deal with, many people would’ve given up on them.  But in my family we are committed to our dogs no matter what.  However, I would never want to pass those problems along to other dogs through breeding and therefore make another family deal with undesirable issues.  The best thing you can do when breeding is to start with the best possible parents so you get the best possible puppies.  This doesn’t guarantee that puppies will be free of medical or behavioral issues.  But it lets you start with the best chances of having healthy, good natured puppies with good temperaments.  We all love our dogs immensely and understand the desire to have puppies just like them.  But having puppies really isn’t the best way to love the breed nor to better it.

Oh my heavens!  I would’ve been having a heart attack!  So glad you found him.  That’s why my dogs wear GPS collars when they’re out.  They’re pricy but so worth the peace of mind.

Oh no! Maybe he’s just trying to keep things interesting.

Poor Amos 🙁  When my first Weim died, my first GSP Tillie was very down.  She was usually a girl who never stopped moving, but she just laid down on the sofa with her head on a pillow and didn’t move for about a day.  After that, she stuck very close to me and was needy which was unusual for her.  It took several months, if I remember correctly, for her to get back to normal.  I’m certain that Amos is grieving.  He may not know what to do without Seamus around.  I do agree that some play time with other dogs would probably help.  Hugs to you both!

Poor, Odin! I hope for everyone’s sake that it was a one time deal.

Wow!!! Congratulations!  That is very exciting news!  Baby boys, weimaraners, I’m partial to them both 🙂

That’s so great that you got his paw prints.  That will be a wonderful way to remember him.  And I know his legacy will live on through you and your future rescues.

Along the same lines as what Quincy mentioned, WA used to have something called My Topics that would list any topics I’d commented on that had new replies.  That was nice for when I just wanted to check in real quick.  If that would be possible to get, I would love that.

Even though I had seen the news on FB, my eyes welled up when I saw your post.  How are you doing?  I know it’s so hard to let them go 🙁
