Schatze saw the vet again today. She is not responding to the chemo. The lymph nodes shrink initially but it doesn’t last. Within a day they are huge. On the positive side, my girl doesn’t know she’s sick. She’s eating and drinking and healthy…counter surfing like a champ and stealing my coffee….
Well originally, I want going to do chemo. I was going to just do the pred and immune system support. But the vet called me last Monday as asked me to come in so we could talk. I think she knew. So I took Schatze in last Tuesday. Dr. Brown told me I couldn’t do nothing…that I would lose her 😢😢😢. But I’m still so afraid of those chemicals so we decided to start with the mildest and lowest dose in oral form. She gets the third and last dose tomorrow. I have to take her in for follow up blood work in a week but I’m going to talk to the vet tomorrow. I swear her lymph nodes are more swollen again. I don’t know if it’s because she told me to cut her pred down to 10 MG per day or not. Please keep praying for my girl. I wish we could get everyone back here…..
I posted the two treatment options on the Former Weimeraner Addicts FB page. I couldn’t figure out how to get it on here. They were sent from the office via email with no input from the oncologist. Waiting to hear back. Stressed….
Oh wow..July 6 is Schatze’s birthday, too. It was also Jake’s. It’s so hard to say goodbye. Lakshmi’s time with you was wonderful. None of my babies lived to see their 12th birthday 😢. Scoutie left me 7 months after Johnny died. Kidney failure ; he was only 7. Senior dogs are the best ❤ though, aren’t they?? Jake was the best dog!! I was heartbroken when I lost him. He taught me so much about these wonderful gray ghosts ❤️❤️❤️. My pups saved my life after Johnny passed.
I hope Merlin is ok today. Sending healing vibes his way.
We saw the doctor. Schatze is doing well with the Lyme. We’re already a week in with the antibiotics. The swelling in the lymph nodes has been reduced considerably with the steroids. I’ve got her on a grain free diet and a turmeric supplement. There are 3 protocols for chemo if I choose that option. I’m not sure I want to do that. My girlie is 10 and her quality of life is very important to me. The vet is going to email me everything so I can review it. That being said, she is responding well to the pred right now. And I was right to cut the dosage down to 10mg 2x a day. When I get the email I’ll share that for feedback….for right now, Schatze is happy and feeling good. Positive vibes👍👍👍👍👍👍
She’s on a grain free diet. I had her titered in 2012…no vaccines since 2009 when we brought her home. Seeing the vet at 1:30. Fingers and toes crossed….
